Hello, we’re attending Perform 2019 Host Analytics Annual Conference and we’re speaking with Israel Askew, CFO of Emissions Monitoring.
QUESTION: Israel as Emissions Monitoring climbs the ranks of middle market companies, we’d be interested in discovering how your role is changing and how your priorities are changing and let’s just look into the future, maybe 12 months, what would you tell us?
ASKEW: Well, we’re about 340 employees. Through the efforts that I’ve made over the last several years, I’ve kept the finance and accounting team quite small, but within the next 12 months, I really need to empower succession, and do a better job documenting how the system is actually built and what things happen in a relatively small organization. There’s a lot of things that I do and that I know that aren’t known by others. And I got to fix that. It’s important to push out at the frontiers in a company that’s growing and not to get too slowed down by documenting everything and getting all of your sort of your blueprints stored. But now it’s time to kind of shore that up and that involves really working with team members and understanding and documenting their own processes, working with them and using my own time and looking at our systems and saying, okay, how are these systems all working? If somebody else was to walk in here, would they be able to trace the lines here and see what’s happening and why it’s happening the way it is? So that’s, what I’m working on the next 12 months.
