A Diminishing Employment Lag

“What we have seen in the broader economy as well as in the middle market is a great deal of caution about adding costs. And there’s been a productivity play, where middle market companies have said: ‘I want to hold the line on my costs and gather top line gains.’ However, you can’t continue to achieve 6.6 percent top line growth without eventually adding human capital. My hypothesis is that the time is coming to open the purse strings.”
