Finance Philosophy
- “I wanted to improve the effectiveness and the impact of some of the key finance functions and capabilities. … In my first twelve months some of the areas I focused on were investor relations, internal controls and our internal audit function, and building a financial analysis and planning capability more broadly and more deeply in the organization. These things can really have an impact on Libbey, because as we look outside and consider our investor story, there’s a need to really understand what is driving our business. “
Mentors & Affiliations
- “Once we got beyond some of the basic blocking and tackling I really focused on the team, and getting them to think more strategically, and answer the questions: What drives the business? And how can we be more proactive and drive business improvement? When your finance team always has to look back and report on the numbers, a team with a more of a strategic eye that is capable of helping the business look forward is going to have a much bigger impact on the company, and this can really energize a finance team.”
